PANEL, VIDEOS, RADIO PROGRAMME etc:

At the global cycling summit, we presented “Visibility and Solidarity Among Women in Turkey” and had a full week of about the City of the future(s)!

It was so inspiring and fruitful to be a part of Velo-City international cycling conference series which was in Dublin, Ireland from the 25th to the 28th June 2019. Zeynep Arapoğlu and Seçil Öznur Yakan attended the conference on behalf of WoBi and below you can find a summary of the week from our side.
The Velo-City conference is the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) annual global cycling summit organised by the ECF and selected host cities. The Velo-City conference is the world’s largest conference in the area of cycling, cycling infrastructure, bicycle innovations, bicycle safety, and the social and cultural changes driven by cycling on a global scale. The theme for Velo-City 2019 Dublin is Cycling for the Ages. This theme focuses on encouraging cycling by people of all ages and abilities, young and old, male and female as part of their daily transport and recreation.

Seçil Öznur Yakan made a presentation at the “Session 4F – Overcoming Imbalances: How to make cycling inclusive for all?” with Giulia Grigoli from Women on Wheels Dublin and Priscilla Dutra Dias Viola from Montreal University. The questions, comments, feedbacks during and after the session showed us collaborations for more projects are on the way. Here you can find the presentation of WoBi and all other speakers.

WoBi made some video recordings during the conference with women who work in different countries and organizations related to cycling, walking, mobility. At our youtube channel you can see them:
Fiona Campbell The manager of Cycling Strategy at the City of Sydney
Susanne Mueller-Huebsch Mayor of Mobility, Anderlecht, Belgium

How can we better support women working in #cycling and/or #mobility? If you didn’t drop your comments and suggestions in the box at the ECF booth during the Velo-City 2019 then contact ECF!

Trapeze Frame, bi-weekly radio programme of WoBi is recorded at the speaker ready room just after the closing session of the conference. Zeynep Arapoğlu, Pınar Pinzuti and Seçil Öznur Yakan made a nice chat about the conference. Trapeze Frame is prepared and presented by two women on bicycle Seçil Zor and Zeynep Arapoğlu. It is broadcasted on Tuesday evenings at 19:00 (GMT+3). During the programme, women cyclists take the word and share their own experiences of bicycle and cycling life.
The Velo-City special programme is broadcasted on 9th of July at Open Radio
Please share the podcast of the programme with your Turkish speaking friends, colleagues and more.
