About Us

We are women riding our bicycles in our daily lives, going to work or leaving our children to school. However there are quite a few of us. On the other hand, we know there are many more women who want to use bicycles. All they need is a little support to see that this is possible. So we came together in this our aim and founded the Women on Bicycle Initiative (WoBi) in 2015.

Our aim as Women on Bicycle Initiative;

  • To create a solidarity environment among women that do and women that do not cycle,
  • To encourage women who want to cycle
  • To increase the number of women who use the bicycle in their daily lives
  • To reach more women and make them more visible in the Turkish cycling scene.

  • ‘Traffic Practice Rides’ for those who want to use their bicycles in traffic, but are afraid of.
  • ‘Bicycle Repair Workshops’ for those who want to be prepared for all eventualities.
  • ‘Meetings’ where needs of cycling are identified and new ideas and suggestions are heard.

Our Principles

To be inclusive

Not to be “anti-“, but inclusive.

Solution-oriented

To be focused not on the impossible, but on the possible solutions.

'Possible' for all women

To show to all women who do not cycle in their daily lives that this is perfectly doable.

Trying to make life easier.
