Born and raised in the mountainous and rugged geography, she could not meet the bicycle as a child until the age 29. While a doctoral student and research assistant at the Department of Biological Sciences at METU, she went on to do her thesis studies in 2007 and also learned how to ride a bicycle in Davis, California. The bicycle she borrowed from her friend during her 1,5 year stay in Davis has always been her companion. In 2012, she decided to continue her academic life in Istanbul and had her first bicycle in 2013. In 2015, she became aware of the establishment and activities of the Women on Bicycle Initiative, thanks to her female friend, who shared office in the university, who had a cycling story and who made cycling programs at Açık Radyo. Since 2017, she has been participating in and supporting the activities as an active member of the Women on Bicycle Initiative. With the city bicycle she owns now also enjoys being a cycling woman with her folding bicycle, pedaling the streets in her daily life in Istanbul and participating in bicycle festivals in different cities.
